After all the waiting, here are the categories for the Quilt Exhibition. Time for some serious planning and fabric buying!
- Journal Quilt: Size, A4 portrait or landscape. Open to members and non-members. Can use any technique, eg applique, reverse applique, traditional patchwork, English paper piecing, foundation piecing, trapunto, curved piecing, chenille, collage. The only restriction is the size. The theme for this category is ‘The National Trust 125th Celebration’ or the Chairman’s Challenge ‘Welwyn Garden City’s Centenary’.
- Themed Quilt: Maximum size, 36” square (does not have to be square). Open to members only. Again, any technique can be used. The theme for this category is ‘Spring’ or the Chairman’s Challenge ‘Welwyn Garden City’s Centenary
- Traditional: Maximum size, 36” square. Open to members only. The quilt can be machine pieced but any applique and quilting must be done by hand. Stabilising stitching is allowed but must be completely hidden.
- I Quilt: This is an opportunity to show off your enthusiasm and creativity whether you are beginner or a more experienced quilter. Anything goes, from a full bed sized quilt to a tiny pincushion provided it involves patchwork and/or quilting!
